Risa Ichikawa is a soprano from Osaka, Japan. She is currently enrolled in the Perfectionnement program at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance at Tokyo University of the Arts, she was awarded a scholarship from the Kyoto French Music Academy in 2021, which led her to pursue further studies in France. She entered the École Normale, where she earned both the Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution (2023) and the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste – Artist Diploma (2025), graduating with highest honors for both degrees.
In 2024, she was a semi-finalist in the George Enesco International Singing Competition and a finalist in the Maîtres du Chant competition. In 2025, she was selected to appear in the École Normale’s Gala de la Voix.
She has also taken part in several training programs and masterclasses, including the Tokyo International Vocal Arts Academy (2025), the Académie d’été Sequenda (2024), and the Académie Francis Poulenc (2023).
In August 2025, she made her operatic debut in the role of Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi, Puccini). She is now preparing to perform as Noémie in Cendrillon by Massenet, scheduled for November 2025 at Tokyo’s Nissay Theatre.
Renowned for her refined diction and sensitivity to poetic nuance—particularly in French and English repertoire—she seeks to create performances where language and music breathe together as one.
